There are days or weeks that certain things can light up in my creative process. I see, hear, feel or read certain things that come by more oft, but at such a time it is different. It lights up, as if I see it more consciously, it comes to me in a more intense fashion and at the same time I am wondering how it wants to inspire me .
These eyecatchers, as I call them, have become "very ordinary", as second nature to me. Yet I wonder if you recognize this as well. And how much you value it. Do you give it conscious attention or do you let it escape your attention?
Last week what caught my eye was a grain of sand.
I was curious to find out what a magnified grain of sand looks like. Depending on where the sand comes from it has different properties. Every grain of sand has a different color, shape and structure. They are unique!

When I studied this picture, it connected me to people and their uniqueness. When you see them, they are all just people together. They, as the sand, are just a crowd. But when you zoom in on a person, you get to the essence, the core of the human being: the heart. Just like the enlarged grain of sand, each person is different in shape, color and structure. Unique, where treasures and valuables are hidden.
This has inspired me and still is in the making of a series that I have called "Treasures". Because where men’s heart is, there is his treasure and so his uniqueness, I believe.
